Hola! ¿Cómo esta? ¿Qué hay de nuevo?
On Monday I went to the mission office while Dad took Brin to the store to help Elder Gudiño, who works in the mission office, with questions he had using New FamilySearch. Sister Neil told him that I knew how to use it. He's leaving this next week so that was the only chance I could help him. He has had some strong impressions that his grandfather wants his work done. Elder Gudiño is the only member in his family. While we were there they showed me the plaque that Brin is helping to make to give to the missionaries that are leaving this next week. It's a shirt pocket in a frame with the missionaries name tag, a pen and their planner. It's a cute idea that they saw in a members home. Brin has been helping with a lot of things in the mission office the last couple of weeks. I'm glad that she's finding things to do to keep her busy while John's in school.
Lynn has had some trouble with his left leg that he had a thrombosis in about twenty years ago and doesn't have good circulation in it. When he gets any sores on it they don't heal. Dr. Lopez, the area mission medical advisor, gave him a referral to a local doctor and he went to see him on Friday. He gave him a prescription for some cream soaked gauze pads that cost $425 pesos for ten (which is a little less than $4 US each). He has to put them on twice a day for about 4 to 6 weeks so it's going to be pretty pricey. Hopefully, the insurance will cover some of it and they will get rid of the sore. It really bothers him at night and was hurting a lot after spending all day on his feet yesterday at the temple. Getting old isn't any fun as our bodies start to wear out. Several months ago President Hall told us that his prostrate cancer, which he had been operated on about 20 years ago, had returned. That his PSA count was at about 85 or so. He has been getting some shots and taking some medication that seems to be working because now he told us the other day that his count is down to .008 and the doctor says he has many more years left in him unless he dies from something else first. That is good news. At first he wasn't even sure that he would make it to now. The doctor gave him 3 months, but he's surprising the doctor with how well he's doing. Our prayers for him are being answered.
This is the last month for the temple presidency. They will be leaving the first of November and the new presidency will take over. I'm really going to miss them. The Halls have become such good friends and I've really enjoyed working with President & Sis. Tenorio. They are wonderful people. President and Sister Perales will be staying on, which will help with the transition. The Clarks, the new temple missionary couple, are supposed to be arriving on Thursday. I'm really excited to have them come. It will really help to relieve some of our work load, especially on Saturdays. Sis. Hall said today that they will be working a double shift for the next two weeks, for training, getting to know their way around the temple and meeting the other workers.
Thursday was our 39th wedding anniversary. We celebrated by going to “El Goucho” a local Argentinian restaurant. The food was very good and very big portions even though we ordered half orders, so we went away very stuffed.
