Week 65 from Mexico

21 November 2010

Another week has passed. Time just seems to fly by. We had a fun day on Monday with Brin and John and a couple that they have gotten to know from their ward along with the Clarks. We went to Chipinque which is a natural park on the northern face of the Sierra Madre mountain range overlooking San Pedro and Monterrey. It's about a 15 minute drive from downtown Monterrey so didn't take long to get to. It's a popular mountain to climb and we passed many hikers as we drove up. In fact, Steve, the young man who was with us told us that President Romney likes to run up the mountain for exercise. They live fairly close to it. There was a nice view of Monterrey, but I think the view from the Obispado, which is on a hill in the center of Monterrey, is probably just as effective, much closer to the city, and you get to see the city in all directions. Here's a link to the pictures I took for you to enjoy.

Later that night John and Brin provide the FHE for our group, which was very nice. John did a great job teaching the lesson and Brin made jello cookies that were delicious. We are sure going to miss them when they leave in about three weeks.

Yesterday, Saturday, at the temple was more like our usual Saturdays, very busy. In fact, we had a large single adult group that came to do baptisms and needed to get through fairly quickly so the laundry room was very busy. Lynn and I arrived at about 9am and I went right to the laundry room. Sis. Clark had been there all morning and stayed with me until about 1:00 pm. They would have stayed longer but the house where the Halls were living was finally ready for them to move into and they needed to get moved. They are glad to be where it is quieter and a lot cleaner.

I finally got our cell phone from the mission but are now letting the Clarks use it because they don't have theirs yet, as there's some problem with the phone number assigned to them. Anyway, we still have our other one to use for now, so are glad to share.

Tomorrow we will be celebrating Thanksgiving with all the trimmings with our FHE group along with a few others including Ricardo & Maricarmen, and Alicia Yost and her friend, who are English speakers working here in Monterrey. You may remember me mentioning Sis. Yost. She used to be a temple worker here and teaches the institute class that John and Brin have been attending on Tuesdays. They invited Sis. Yost and her friend to join us.
