As we got into Monterrey we had a hard time finding the right road for the temple as the streets are not labeled very well. It's a big city with heavy traffic and many one way streets. We finally found what we hoped was the right road. As we rounded one bend in the road all of a sudden there was the temple steeple with Angel Moroni on top. I've never been so happy to see that sight. Unlike many other temples, which you can se
e for several miles before reaching it, this one is just right in the middle of the busy city. It shares the parking lot with the stake center. The temple was closed when we got there but soon after we pulled in the temple president, President Tenorio and his wife pulled in. They greeted us warmly and, even though we were dressed in our casual clothes allowed us to enter the reception area of the temple while they called his first counselor, President Hall and his wife, who were waiting to hear from us so they could take us to the apartment they had arranged for us. They spent the afternoon helping us get settled in and showed us around. We also had dinner with them.

Heading into Monterrey, Mexico
Wednesday morni
ng we got up early and traveled to Laredo. Things got pretty hectic as we crossed the border into Mexico. As we entered Nueve Laredo we missed the first left turn we were supposed to take that went to the immigration/customs building where we needed to get our Visas and passports processed and get our car registered to use in Mexico. As we were trying to find our way back to where we needed to be an old man with one leg on crutches, in the middle of the road, hobbled over to us to give us directions. For his help we gave him a $1 coin that I happened to have. It's gold colored and you would have thought we gave him a great treasure by the look on his face. We also got some help
from a local policeman and finally found our way and got everything processed. We then headed towards Monterrey. We found driving in Mexico to be a very scary prospect. The traffic signs seem to be just suggestions as many of the drivers don't seem to pay much attention to them. If you stay in the speed limit cars pass you by. You have to be on the alert all the time. Drivers don't think anything of cutting you off. It's really scary.
